"I am not selfish for choosing myself"

The line that became a screenshot loop in March 2026. Full context, and why it worked.

In March 2026 we shipped this daily line:

"I am not selfish for choosing myself. I am the only one who was going to."

By the end of the week it had been screenshotted more than any other line we'd released to date.

Why it worked

The first sentence is defensive — it rebuts an accusation. That's comfortable to say alone. The second sentence is the one that costs something: it names the truth that the choice was yours because nobody else was going to make it for you.

Three languages

How to sit with it

Read the sentence twice. Notice which part your body resists. If the "not selfish" part is the resistance — you're still defending. If the "only one who was going to" part is the resistance — you're allowed to feel that grief. Both are the exercise.
